Tiger's Eye is a chatoyant, semi-precious stone. Chatoyancy is what creates that silky luster of reflected light in Tiger's Eye. This effect is created by the parallel fibrous structure of the stone. Tiger's Eye was first discovered in South Africa in the early 1800's. It is now mined in South Africa, Australia, the USA, Canada, India, Namibia, and Burma.
