Dichroic Glass

Dichroic glass is an art form in which slight imperfections only enhance the beauty of the hand made piece. Dichroic glass is a process developed by NASA in the 1950's to reflect radar. Thin layers of oxides are vacuum deposited on the glass altering the refraction index of the spectrum. The glass is layered and fused in several stages at a carefully monitored temperature which is critical to give the piece its unique fiery iridescence. Each piece is then crafted into a one-of-a-kind keepsake.
